Euphoria Style Halter Top: A Simple Sewing Tutorial for Beginners

 Hi everyone,

I have some exciting news for you today. I just uploaded a new video on my YouTube channel where I show you how to sew a halter top with drop neckline from any fabric.

This is a fun and easy project that you can do without using any ready pattern. You just need some fabric, scissors, pins, and a sewing machine. I’ll explain how to measure yourself, how to draw the lines on the fabric, how to cut and sew the pieces together, and how to add the tie straps at the back. You can adjust the neckline depth with the tie straps according to your preference.

My inspiration for this project was the Euphoria serial, which has some amazing outfits and styles. I love how my halter top turned out and I hope you will too.

You can watch the video here

My pattern can be sewn from both stretch and non stretch fabric, you just need to make minor changes to the pattern

Sewing the top with non stretch fabric:

Fabric Types:

Thin Lightweight fabrics

Silk Fabrics

Cotton Lawn

Viscose fabric

Cotton Voile

Sewing the top with stretch fabric:

Fabric Types:

Stretch jersey knit

Cotton jersey knit

Stretch cotton poplin

Stretch cotton shirting

Stretch cotton jacquard

changes that need to be made to the pattern when sewing with stretch fabric

Example

  full bust measurements 96 :4 = 24 cm

1/4 bust measurements 24 cm - 2 cm = 22 cm

How to sew stretch fabric and  How to Find Fabric Stretch Ratio for Pattern Making

You adjust the neckline depth with the tie at the back of the blouse, you add the length of the tie depending on the size you choose, examples below.

After cutting and sewing the tie straps on the sides, this is what the pattern looks like

How to sew a top :

150cm x 150cm square fold in half and fold in half again

in the side fold draw the length of the top 42 cm

on the top fold line draw a line depending on the size you choose, for example M size 60 cm

from the top 6 cm (tie thickness)

then 1/6 bust measurements 16 cm armhole

bust line 14 bust measurements 24 cm + 1 cm seam allowance = 25 cm

and waist line 1/4 waist measurements 17 cm + 1 cm seam allowance = 18 cm

connect waist line with bust and round armhole then cut

trace the width of the tie to the top on the side of the blouse and cut out 4 ties

pin the ties to the side of the blouse with right sides together and sew.

then fold the top in half right sides together and hem line, leave a 5 cm gap to turn the blouse right side out, sew the gap and the top is ready
